Terms of Use
Last updated: May 16, 2026
These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the Aruha mobile application, website, and related services (together, the "Service").
By accessing or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
The Service is currently operated for early-access testing by the Aruha startup team.
Contact: support@aruha.app
If the Service is later operated through a company, distribution partner, or different legal entity, these Terms must be updated to reflect the correct operator.
1. What Aruha is
Aruha is an early-stage mobile application designed to help users scan grocery receipts, extract grocery item information, track pantry items, monitor grocery spending, and receive expiry-related reminders.
The Service is intended for personal household organisation and grocery awareness. It is not intended to replace professional advice, official accounting records, tax documentation, nutritional guidance, medical advice, legal advice, or financial advice.
2. Early access and MVP status
Aruha is currently provided as an early-access MVP product. This means:
- features may be incomplete;
- receipt extraction may be inaccurate;
- supported receipt formats may be limited;
- performance and availability may vary;
- features may be added, changed, removed, paused, or discontinued;
- the Service may contain bugs or errors.
By using the Service in this stage, you understand and accept that it is under active development.
3. User accounts
Some features may require an account. If you create an account, you agree to:
- provide accurate information;
- keep your login credentials secure;
- not share your account with unauthorised persons;
- notify us if you suspect unauthorised access.
You are responsible for activity that occurs under your account, except where caused by our failure to apply reasonable security measures.
You may delete your account directly from within the app. Account deletion removes your stored app data and your authentication account. See our Privacy Policy for details on what is deleted and what may remain in platform-managed caches.
We may suspend or restrict access if we reasonably believe that your account is being misused or used in violation of these Terms.
4. Receipt scanning and extraction accuracy
Aruha uses automated systems, OCR, QR code processing, and/or AI-assisted parsing to extract information from grocery receipts.
Receipt extraction may contain errors, including:
- wrong item names;
- missing items;
- duplicate items;
- incorrect quantities;
- incorrect prices;
- incorrect totals;
- incorrect expiry assumptions;
- incorrect store or purchase date information.
You are responsible for reviewing and correcting extracted data before saving or relying on it.
Aruha does not guarantee that any receipt will be parsed correctly, fully, or at all.
5. Pantry, budget, and expiry tracking
Aruha may help you track pantry items, grocery spending, expiry dates, and shopping-related information.
These features are provided for convenience only. You remain responsible for:
- checking actual product packaging;
- verifying expiry dates;
- verifying receipt totals;
- deciding whether food is safe to consume;
- making your own spending, shopping, and household decisions.
Aruha does not guarantee that it will prevent food waste, reduce spending, or identify all expired or expiring products.
6. Not professional advice
The Service does not provide:
- financial advice;
- accounting advice;
- tax advice;
- legal advice;
- dietary advice;
- nutritional advice;
- allergy safety advice;
- medical advice;
- food safety certification;
- official expense records.
Any spending summaries, budget views, expiry reminders, or grocery insights are informational only.
You should not rely on the Service as the sole basis for financial, health, dietary, legal, tax, or safety decisions.
7. Your content
You may upload, submit, create, or store content in the Service, including receipt images, receipt data, pantry entries, budget entries, item corrections, shopping lists, notes, feedback, screenshots, or support messages ("User Content").
You remain responsible for your User Content.
By submitting User Content, you confirm that:
- you have the right to submit it;
- it does not violate applicable law;
- it does not infringe the rights of others;
- it is not submitted for fraudulent, abusive, or harmful purposes.
You retain ownership of your User Content. However, you grant us a limited, worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to process, host, store, reproduce, modify, analyse, and display your User Content solely as necessary to provide, secure, maintain, support, and improve the Service.
8. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- use the Service for unlawful purposes;
- upload unlawful, harmful, fraudulent, misleading, or infringing content;
- submit fabricated receipts or manipulated data with intent to deceive;
- interfere with or disrupt the Service;
- attempt to gain unauthorised access to systems, accounts, or data;
- reverse engineer, scrape, copy, or misuse the Service except as permitted by law;
- use automated tools to overload or abuse the Service;
- use the Service to process data you are not authorised to process;
- use the Service in a way that could damage, disable, or impair our infrastructure or providers.
We may suspend, restrict, or terminate access if we reasonably believe these Terms have been violated.
9. Third-party services
The Service may rely on third-party providers, including cloud hosting, database, authentication, OCR, AI parsing, analytics, crash reporting, app store, and communication providers.
We are not responsible for interruptions, errors, security incidents, or changes caused by third-party services, except to the extent required by applicable law.
Use of app stores, operating systems, authentication providers, or third-party services may also be subject to their own terms and policies.
10. App stores
If you download Aruha through Apple App Store, Google Play, or another app distribution platform, your use may also be subject to that platform's terms, policies, and rules.
The app store provider is not responsible for providing support for the Service unless required by its own policies or applicable law.
11. Intellectual property
The Service, including its design, software, branding, text, graphics, icons, logos, interface, features, and underlying technology, is owned by us or our licensors and is protected by applicable intellectual property laws.
You may use the Service only for personal, non-commercial use unless we expressly agree otherwise in writing.
You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, lease, sublicense, or create derivative works based on the Service except as permitted by law or expressly authorised by us.
12. Feedback
If you send us feedback, suggestions, ideas, bug reports, or improvement proposals, you agree that we may use them without restriction or compensation, provided that we do not identify you publicly without your consent.
13. Availability and changes
We do not guarantee that the Service will be available, uninterrupted, secure, or error-free at all times.
We may modify, suspend, limit, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time, especially during the MVP and early-access stage.
Where reasonably possible, we will try to communicate significant changes, but we are not required to do so in all cases.
14. Data loss
Although we aim to use reasonable measures to protect and preserve data, we do not guarantee that pantry records, receipt data, budget entries, or other User Content will never be lost, corrupted, deleted, or unavailable.
After account deletion, some platform-managed caches (such as the Firestore offline cache) may remain on your device temporarily until cleared by the platform, device, or app uninstall.
You should not rely on Aruha as your only record of important financial, tax, legal, dietary, medical, or household information.
15. No warranties
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the Service is provided "as is" and "as available".
We make no warranties that:
- the Service will meet your expectations;
- receipt extraction will be accurate;
- pantry or budget data will always be correct;
- the Service will be uninterrupted or error-free;
- the Service will prevent food waste or save money;
- all bugs or defects will be corrected;
- the Service will remain available permanently.
Nothing in these Terms limits rights that cannot be excluded under applicable consumer protection law.
16. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, we are not liable for:
- incorrect receipt extraction;
- missing or duplicated grocery items;
- incorrect prices, totals, quantities, or expiry information;
- decisions you make based on app data;
- food spoilage, unsafe food consumption, or missed expiry reminders;
- loss of data;
- service interruption;
- third-party provider failures;
- indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages;
- loss of profit, revenue, business opportunity, goodwill, or anticipated savings.
Our total liability for any claim arising out of or relating to the Service is limited to the amount you paid to use the Service in the 12 months before the claim, or EUR 50 if you used the Service for free, unless applicable law requires otherwise.
Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations of liability. In such cases, the limitation applies only to the maximum extent permitted by law.
17. Consumer rights
Nothing in these Terms is intended to exclude or limit mandatory consumer rights that apply to you under the laws of your country.
If you are a consumer in the European Union, Serbia, or another jurisdiction with mandatory consumer protection rules, those rights remain unaffected.
18. Termination
You may stop using the Service at any time.
We may suspend or terminate your access if:
- you violate these Terms;
- you misuse the Service;
- continued access creates legal, security, operational, or reputational risk;
- the Service is discontinued;
- required by law or by a third-party platform.
After termination, some provisions of these Terms will continue to apply, including intellectual property, limitation of liability, disclaimers, data handling provisions, and governing law.
19. Privacy
Your use of the Service is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which explains how we collect, use, store, share, and protect personal data.
You should read the Privacy Policy before using the Service.
20. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time.
When we update them, we will revise the "Last updated" date above. Where changes are material or legally required, we may provide additional notice.
Your continued use of the Service after updated Terms are posted means that you accept the updated Terms, unless applicable law requires a different process.
If you do not agree with the updated Terms, you must stop using the Service.
21. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Serbia, unless mandatory consumer protection laws in your country provide otherwise.
If the Service is later operated by a legal entity established in another jurisdiction, this section must be updated.
22. Disputes
Before starting any formal legal proceeding, you agree to contact us first and try to resolve the issue informally.
You can contact us at: support@aruha.app
If a dispute cannot be resolved informally, it will be handled by the competent courts or authorities determined under applicable law, subject to any mandatory consumer protection rules that apply in your country.
